Monday Moon - Edition 1050

This week’s Positive Monday is about a simple mindset shift that can instantly reduce stress and help you respond more effectively when things don’t go to plan.
Instead of reacting straight away, pause and say:
“That’s interesting.”
It might sound a bit unusual, but this small phrase can make a big difference.
Why It Works
When something frustrating happens, our natural reaction is to jump straight into emotion—annoyance, stress, or even frustration.
By saying “That’s interesting,” you create a small gap between the event and your reaction.
That gap is powerful.
It moves you from reacting… to observing.
And once you’re observing, you’re in a much better position to think clearly, stay calm, and decide what to do next.
What This Looks Like in Real Life
You can use this in all sorts of everyday situations:
- An email comes through that you weren’t expecting
- A plan changes at the last minute
- Someone says something that catches you off guard
- A job or task doesn’t go the way you thought it would
Instead of immediately reacting, you pause and think:
“That’s interesting… what’s actually going on here?”
That one shift often stops things from escalating and helps you respond in a more thoughtful way.
Action Exercise
Today, the next time something doesn’t go to plan, try this:
Pause for a moment and say (either out loud or to yourself):
“That’s interesting…”
Then take one breath and decide your next step.
You’ll find you feel more in control—and far less reactive.
At Service King, we know that staying calm and thinking clearly—especially when things don’t go perfectly—is what leads to the best results. It’s the same approach we bring to keeping your workspace clean, organised, and running smoothly.
